TATA Nano allotment status links- check if you have got your Nano

TATA Motors announced today the allotment results and when we tried to find the delivery dates  almost 60% people had delivery dates from October 2010 to December 2010 and 30-40% in the July 2010 to Septembet 2010 ranges. There were customers who have to wait even longer.  The website TATA Motors has setup is not exactly secure if you know just one UIN number (especially if you ordered online) , you can just increment or decrement from your number and check status of many would be NANOers.

I did check almost 50 such numbers and most of them were for delivery between Oct 2010 – Dec 2010. Many were also for Jul 2010-Sep 2010. So dont expect a Nano attack on roads anytime soon.

You can check whether you are lucky or not by entering your UIN number in the following link

You will start getting the TATA Nano allotment letters through Postal service but, checking online is much faster. Also its estimated that very few people will get TATA Nano this year. Most of the first one lakh will get the Nano in Jul-Sep 2010 or Oct-Dec 2010.

There was little surprise in terms of the allotments and as I had written earlier in the  previous post TATA was prompt in announcing the allotments.

Stupid (real) ways to get fired during recession (in Infosys and TCS)

These two are real incidents and one from Infosys and another from TCS.

1. Create color xerox copies of your bus passes and use company’s bus service for free

Yes some of the freshers in Infosys tried this and sadly had a sad ending to their career. News is that infosys doubled its bus pass rates and pushed these thrifty freshers into such a genuine idea.

2. Try to hack your CEO’s account

This time its TCS, two Mumbai smarties who somehow found their CEO Ramadurai Employee Id and tried to log in to his ultimatix account (TCS all in all web application). Maybe they were thinking Ramadurai keeps a simple password or default password ??? . They tried it three times and his account was locked.  It appears that Ramadurai’s secretary wasnt too happy and he/she ordered a probe and the culprits were found within a day and asked to resign meekly. Good thing is that since TCS asked them to resign, nothing will be mentioned in their conduct certificates.  Hope these unlucky chaps try their luck in next year’s black hat meet.

Ok now dont give me a third reason which goes like “Writing a blog like this about your own company”.

Since I had joined a new company recently after quitting TCS, I couldnt collect much inside information about TCS. Anyway some of my friends and blog followers contributed the above incidents. Keep mailing me something happening around these IT firms and let me update it for you.

Chrysler and GM bankruptcy – No impact on TCS and Wipro.

The media has been making wild guesses about the impact of Chrysler and GM bankruptcies. Economic Times went on to say how Infosys will be impacted along with TCS in case of Chrysler bankruptcy, the news made one point very clear the Media lives and thrives on speculation and Rumors. The fact that Infosys withdrew from Chrysler almost a year back and only TCS and Syntel are Chrysler’s vendors was probably not known the speculator from Economic times.

And in terms of impact Chrysler included TCS in its critical supplier list and All TCS payments were cleared by bankruptcy courts. There has been no ramp down after the bankruptcy as these companies had already planned out these things. Also TCS has started getting more work in terms of renaming the Chrysler in its applications and preparing for the Fiat alliance.

This could be the case with GM, the Government is helping these companies clean the slate in terms of Debts and nothing more. So If at all there is any impact it could be positive on the Indian vendors in long term.
