AMD launches 12 core processor – AMD Opteron™ 6000 Series platform

AMD has launched the world’s first 8 and 12 core processors both from AMD Opteron 6000 Series Platform. The AMD Opteron 6000 series offers upto 88% more integer performance and 119% more floating point than any exisiting AMD processor. AMD also promises a 2.5 times improvement in Memory performance with four channels  DDR3 slot.

AMD has also announced that HP,Dell,Acer and others are launching servers with the 12 core processors in next few months. But the main advantage of AMD 12 core processors seems to be the price tag which is just half the price of Intel’s 6 core processors.

Airtel launches 4Mbps Unlimited plans at Rs 899

Airtel has launched 4Mbps unlimited plans all over India (subject to availability) as low as Rs 899 ($20) but there is a catch ie after the initial 6GB download/upload limit the line speed reduces to 256 Kbps but still it is unlimited. The 4 Mbps unlimited plans are available in various price band with the 4Mbps speed limit increasing the 4Mbps cutoff.

For Rs 1099 the 4 Mbps limit is till 12 GB, and for Rs 1399 it is 25 GB and at Rs 1799 it is 50 GB. After the initial limit ie after 4 Mbps download limit is exceeded, the connection changes to 256 Kbps unlimited.

With this plan Airtel has become the fastest broadband provider in India in the sub Rs 1000 range.This plan is expected to raise the speed bar in India, as other operators also will be expected to increase the speed.

First 32 GB Memory Card and upcoming 64 GB by SANDISK

SanDisk has started shipping its highest capacity 32 GB memory cards for Mobile phones.It is the first highest capacity removal memory card device.
SanDisk has said that “The highly-versatile 32GB SanDisk microSDHC card delivers immediate memory expansion that lets consumers enjoy the storage-intensive features of their advanced handsets”.

Memory card comes with 5 year warranty which is really a good offer from sandisk.Price of the device is around $199.
With the high end mobile phones available today in the market memory capacity has always been a concern.With all provisions to store videos,games,music,applications etc whatever memory capacity available in smart phones will really be not enough for storage.So SanDisk after shipping its 32 GB memory card it will also be releasing 64GB memory card in a short period.
